Digital Literacy, Young Children and Libraries:
A Toolkit

This online toolkit, scheduled for release in summer 2015, will include free and downloadable resources and worksheets, such as:

  • Bibliography – of relevant studies on learning theory, brain development, and impacts of technology use.
  • Guiding Principles – to help inform practice and gauge if, when, and how to thoughtfully use technology with young children and their families.
  • Library Assessment Tools – to help ascertain library needs and capacity, including guidelines for evaluating new media content and tools.
  • Parent/Caregiver Tools – to assess parental/caregiver needs and questions, resources to direct them to, and methods for evaluating impact.
